In a Quiet House

The girls are off on their own adventure, leaving pip and I alone to snuggle. While they unpack their waters socks and no fewer than seven swim suites between them for an exciting lake visit, I suddenly have the time to rock my (almost) three-week-old uninterrupted.

This week we made it to soccer practice, where little miss refused to leave my side long enough to kick the ball. Thankfully, big sis made it worth the two hour walk in the park, reveling in the camaraderie of school friends. She made a fierce defender when she wasn’t busy making her friends giggle with her impersonations of park wildlife.

With two big kids in the mix, life simply can’t slow down all that much for a new baby…. that is until grandma and grandpa sweep the big ones off on their own.

This long weekend will be a delightful indulgence, full of rocking, kissing little toes, and that lovely but often impractical advice to “sleep when the baby sleeps.”
