Somehow, in spite of an embarrassing influx of weeds that will likely pose problems for next year’s garden, the harvest is in full swing. Chard, green and purple beans, various lettuces, squash, the beginnings of our cucumbers, and the first super sweet cherry tomatoes are all becoming regular side dishes in our house.
Do you suppose home grown salads, yummy steamed green beans, and sauteed Swiss chard offset the rotation of burgers, bratwurst, and take out that have been sustaining us? It will have to do, as creative and healthful meals will have to wait until I can properly shop for groceries without little pip begging for his own dinner. And until I’m sleeping enough to come up with dinner ideas.
