Humming along

As Maya reminded us last night, we live in a busy house. She ruminated about it on her way back from piano lessons.

  • 2 kids
  • 1 baby
  • 2 cats
  • 5 chickens
  • piano lessons
  • swim lessons
  • science fairs
  • spirit play
  • homework
  • visiting (as she calls it)
Homemade Laser obstacle course… this princess is escaping the tower Zeta-Jones-Style

Sometimes a kid just needs time to play… a mom too.

Or walk in the park.

Maya & Joe experimented with a tin can telephone for this year’s science fair

How nice that my six-year-old values unscheduled, creative play time enough to remind me to pull back from the urge to follow every opportunity.

beefcake baby!

How nice that my four-year-old still has a year and a half of un-schooled time to build the tallest lego fort and conduct rainbow experiments in her underpants (when you’re four, that’s a good thing!).

Dupolo perfection

The ebbs and tides of life with little kids just hum right along, and it’s my job to be sure there is always time for a slow walk in the park.
