Nothing else needs to be said, really. The emergence of spring from the cold, quiet hibernation of winter is joy enough. No other transformation so completely revitalizes my outlook or my family. All of a sudden the bleak bare trees, are afire with orange or lime budded tips. The frozen, gray dirt erupts into pools of mud pierced with bright green shoots. Furry coats of green moss race up and down the trunks supporting our tree forts. And we find our spirits dancing to the glorious, chaotic songs of a thousand different bird and frog species.
Everywhere, we are surrounded by the renewal of life.
And we can’t get enough of it. Suddenly all of our spare time, and many of our family meals, is set near one of the girls’ many fairy house creations along our trail in the woods.
All future plans may be canceled.
Spring is here.
We must run free with the fairies.
